Check out this video. This is an example of incompatible pets. The people who made the video have cats and there is a turtle in the garden which stakes out his territory and chases them around the yard. He nips at them to make them leave his area and they run off with no real ability to fight back because he has a shell to protect himself. The poor cats just want to lounge around in the garden area and all their efforts to relax are thwarted by the turtle sentry of the back yard. It's kinda cute cause I've never seen such a bold turtle. He must have been a dog in a past life.

A Special Christmas Story About A Rescued Pet
Check out this story about "Sunshine" the little Chihuahua who was rescued by a girl in college. It is a sweet story Sunshine made it through multiple health problems and a big rain storm and in the end ate all the cookies left for Santa under the tree.

It's Official There Are No New Kittens To Report At My House
Wednesday Samson and Delila got their precious parts snipped out. They have been de-jeweled. The family jewels removed and discarded who knows where. I know I am officially a mom now because of how sad I am. I know it had to be done but waa waa it wasn't easy. First the poor little rascals had to go without food from midnight the night before until they got home at 630 the day of the surgery. As if that isn't torture enought they had to endure the car ride there and they were the most well behaved and quiet little guys you've ever seen. When we got into the vet they stayed quiet the whole time despite all the funky smells wafting around that place. It smelled of dogs and cats and who knows what else, but they weren't afraid of any of it thanks to Rocky and Buddy coming to the house. Dogs don't scare them they think dogs are toys and they try to whack at their ears. Little dogs get freaked out by the kitties because they are so bold to come give the little ruffsters a sniff over. Any way when I picked them up Samson was as quiet as could be and Delila was too until she had to sit in the cold for too long while I opened the car door. She moaned in pain and discomfort letting me know to hurry up. The whole way in the car if we hit a bump or anything she just moaned and cried. I felt so bad for her. I was afraid they were going to hate me for the torture of depriving them with food and then taking them to get mutilated. When we got home I let them out and it seemed as if they were nervous that something was going to come out and grab them. When they calmed down Samson ran all around the house trying to eat any thing that was on the floor. I tended to poor little Delila and then realized that if I didn't feed them Samson was going to choke himself on something eventually. I fed the little buggars and then Delila started to lick her incision and bite at the stitches. It was driving her nuts because even squirting her didn't stop the nibbling and after a dousing of water I had to wrap her in a towel and protect her from herself. I didn't have an E-Collar so I was clueless on what to do. Especially since the stores were all closed. I ended up finding the last remaining paper plate in my house and I fashioned it into a cone and cut a hole in it for her little head to fit. I put it on her and taped it together with scotch tape. She figured out how to make my cheap little dollar store plate bend so she could reach her new chew toy and went at it again. I had to get a few old chopsticks that I had and break them in pieces to use as a splint for the paper plate. I taped the sticks all around the plate and then she looked even more hilarious with all this wood and paper and scotch tape around her head. She didn't have any periferal vision after that so she marched around the house lifting her little paws up like a German Soldier. I took a picture with my camera but I don't have a digital so we'll have to wait for the prints if you want to see the pics. I will post them as soon as they come up. I got her a real E-collar the next morning and she was very patient while waiting for the cutting to complete. Apparently she learned from her experience the day before that you shouldn't wiggle too much when a sharp object is near you. In the mean time Samson is running around like a lunatic with all sorts of energy. I was told he'd be more calm but that was a lie cause he is psycho now. Running and climbing and snuggling and wrestling. I know when I have human children I'll never have them fixed or I'll go nuts with all the energy they'll have. LOL

The Importance Of Organic Pet Food
The fab 5 major pet food manufacturers would have you believe that cute little packaged servings of food served with love from you but the increase in pet health issues will tell you different. I recommend that all of you read the book "The Food Pets Die For" by Ann N. Martin. This book has great information on the most common pet foods and manufacturers. Actually it would be a great Christmas gift for your favorite petsitter since she has to go to the library to get it or read excerpts on line.

When reading labels on various foods it can get confusing. This site lists definitions of various terms that are commonly used to describe pet foods on the packaging. I believe this site also has pet products for sale that you can check out. If you find anything good let me know.

Organic Pet Food Gets Paws Up
Check out this USA Today article about the rise of organic pet food. Here are some excerpts from the article to whet your appetite. "Even Fido and Mittens are going organic...Organic pet food sales, up 63% last year, are growing at nearly 3 times the rate of human organic food sales, says the Organic Trade Association...Among all organic products - foods untouched by preservatives, pesticides, hormones and antibiotics - only sales of organic meats are growing faster...

Information About Organic Pet Foods
Hello All. I wanted to let you know that in the next few days and weeks I will be collecting information on organic pet foods for you. I will be purchasing and receiving samples of each of the pet foods that I am planning to research and I will be rating them over time for you. I will also be listing ingredients for you in case you have something you don't want your cat or dog to eat. In the end I hope this will enable you to make better choices about the food your animals will be eating. I come from farm country and I have found there to be a vast difference between country animals and city animals. In the country animals are a way of life and making a living for the people who own them and the job of the vet is to help the farmer make money and keep entire herds of animals alive and healthy. In the city animals are a way of life and making a living for the vet and the job of the vet is to keep your pet alive long enough to milk you of all the money you can give them because of the ailments that they have from the nutrient deficiencies caused by the psuedo food and over medication of the poor little guys. You may ask whether or not my opinion is based on fact or simple bias. Take it from someone who has grown up from birth caring for and medicating a variety of animals small and large this is the way of the pet world. Check the cost of medical care in cities vs. rural areas and you will see that the vets in the city make a great living while vets in the rural areas live right near the same lifestyle of the farmer. This is why I will be talking the next few entries about organic foods for your pet. Organic foods have not been processed to remove the good stuff along with the bad. I figure if you're gonna spend money at the vet then you could reduce the vet bill and increase the food bill the same amount. Take the petsitter challenge and we'll see if it works.

Skye's Diary
Wooo!!! It's cold outside. I can tell because every time I sit near the window it's pretty nippy. Tiger Lily of course doesn't even notice because she is kinda chubby and only paying attention to the food. The petsitter gave the goo to the eye and put the food down and then sat in the chair. She tried to play with Tiger Lily but with no success. Tiger Lily was off doing her own thing and could have cared less. The petsitter eventually left and said she'd be back in the morning.

Samson's Diary
Today was a long day. My mom got caught in traffic on the way home so she was late getting here. Then she rushed in and ignored us and went outside with Rocky and Buddy. They were pretty excited but Delila and I weren't. We had to stay in the bathroom until they got back from a walk. When they got back mom came in the bathroom with us and snuggled us and fed us and then she left us in there! She went out there and snuggled the boys without us. Then she fed them and left to go to the movies with her hairless friends. When she came back she did the same thing accept she didn't leave. Finally she came and opened the door and let us out of the bathroom. We came out and Delila went straight for the food that Buddy left behind. Mom keeps having to invent crazy contraptions to keep her out of Buddy's food. Once everyone calmed down things became better for a while. Rocky got under his little blankie on the down pillow that mom let him have and Buddy sniffed around the house while I sniffed Rocky. Finally I woke him up and then everything went nutty. He couldn't settle down. He tried to jump on mom's computer, he went and tried to eat our food, he tried to eat the litter, he tried to get into the laundry. Then Buddy started trying to play with him and he wouldn't so he tried to play with mom instead. Mom got down on the floor and we all 4 played with her together. She played chase the hand on the floor and Buddy played with her for a really long time after we got tired. She pretended to be a dog and they wrestled and bit at eachother until mom got tired. Then Buddy followed me all around the house trying to talk me into playing. I did a little but when he got all excited and started barking it freaked me out. That whole barking thing is Greek to me. Oh well we tried.

Cute Cat Video
I don't know how the cat got into trying this trick at all but kinda neat that it can do it. The question is how does the cat get out?

Buddy's Diary
The petsitter took us on 3 walks today. One in the morning, One in the afternoon and one in the evening. It was kinda nice to go on so many walks but it was scary at the same time. First of all the petsitter always carries a bag of trash with her on the walk because the dumpster for her apartment complex is a couple of blocks away so it's scary to walk with this big bag following you. Secondly, she tosses the bag in the dumpster and it's realy loud when it hits the bottom of the dumpster. Today it was really frickin windy compared to what I'm used to so I didn't know what to think. It was as if all the trees were chasing after me or something. It was like a horror film or something. Not to mention that it was cold as heck outside and so any part of my body without hair was freezing. If I had balls I would swear they had been frozen off. Right now outside it's about 30 degrees. When the petsitter got home and our night time walk was completed Rocky insisted on trying to hunch me. Eventually he got bored with it I guess because he stopped trying and we went into the petsitter's bedroom and layed on the bed. Me and Rocky and the petsitter wrestled and played bite the hand for a long time and then I got in trouble for trying to chew on her bedspread. Last night she let me and Rocky lay on some curtains that she was eventually going to hang in her bedroom and I chewed through them. She said it was a sign from God that those were not the curtains for her. I think she was just trying to be nice but oh well. I'm bored right now. I've just taken a break from roaming the house and sniffing everything and chewing on the cat toys etc. By the way catnip isn't so bad after all for those of you who haven't tried it. The petsitter said that she thinks my mom should try to use some Bach Flower Remedies on me for my nervousness. She thinks it would help my chewing on curtains/blankies and stuff and maybe even with my nervousness around humans and during storms.

Rocky's Diary
Buddy and I got here earlier today and gave the place its initial sniff over. The petsitter wasn't here then so our mom sat with us for a minute and then headed out the door. She forgot our blankies but we did alright without them. The house was a snippit cold but that isn't a problem when you're so furrily endowed as I am. You should see me I'm a prime piece of dog meat. The bitches dig me and the dogs are afraid. Anyway enough about me. When the petsitter got here we were pretty excited. Even Buddy wasn't afraid or anything. For some reason we didn't feel like barking when she came in. We discussed it but I couldn't remember what the reason was for not barking. The petsitter sat all her stuff down and then tried to locate all of our stuff so that she knew where it all was. As soon as she found the leashes we were off for our walk. She grabbed one of the trash bags that needed to go out and walked it around to the dumpster with us. No big deal until she tried to throw the bag into the dumpster. She tossed the bag into the dumpster and the sound of it hitting the bottom of the dumpster scared the crap out of Buddy. He bolted and the petsitter wasn't holding his leash tight enough. Before I knew it she and I were walking behind Buddy all around the neighborhood trying to convince him to come to us. Finally the petsitter turned around and looked at me saying "this is going to be an all night thing isn't it?" About the same time Buddy just walked right up to us and practically handed her his leash. When we got back to the house we didn't go in we actually just grabbed a bunch of light bulbs and walked around the neighborhood to all the apartment buildings changing light bulbs in the stairways. When we got home Buddy was flustered from all the stops and the noise of the bulbs clanking together in the bag. The petsitter let the cats out and then it was a get to know you again sort of situation. Of course after all 4 of us ate Delila came around so she could smack the crap out of me for no reason at all. The petsitter smacked her for me. Samson kept driving Buddy nuts by trying to play with his ears and he finally snapped. Oh the pains of interspecial relationships!! Now it is finally calming down since K (the petsitter's girlfriend) got here. Buddy's napping beside the petsitter, the cats are chasing each other and any bugs coming in the window, I am about to start my snoring marathon beside K on the couch. All is well at Fuzzy Family Central.

Fuzzy Family Central Has A Temporary Zoo!!!!!
Not a real zoo silly! I have my friend TBLJ's dogs Rocky and Buddy over visiting until Sunday. For those of you who don't know that I have cats it is no big announcement but I have two kittens Samson and Delila. So the rest of the week you will be seeing diary entries from all four of the little fuzzies that are in my apartment. The real focus will of course be on Rocky and Buddy but the diary will be from the perspective of all the animals. So be ready for the fiasco that is about to be my humble abode.
