Can't We All Just Get Along?!!?

Thanks to my friend Kelly who sent me the link to this video so I could post it on my blog. The video is of a homeless guy in Santa Barbara with his pets. They are seen on the street every week working the crowd for donations. The animals are clearly well fed and taken care of and they are all a pretty mellow bunch. The owner rigged a harness for the cat to sit on so that the cat wouldn't have to walk as much as the dog and the human and at some point the rat just began to tag along. It all worked out since no one wanted to eat anyone else for whatever reason. I think the Mayor of Santa Barbara filmed the clip for his Christmas card one year.

Rest In Piece Eight Belles

For those of you who are not into horse racing or the Kentucky Derby this video may or may not be pointless. I don't watch the Kentucky Derby or too many other horse races, but I grew up around horses and have a great love for them to some extent. I felt sad to hear that the second place finisher at this year's Kentucky Derby, Eight Belles, had died immediately after the race. Apparently, both the horses front ankles gave out and the horse went down after the race during the cool down. The horse had to be euthanized.

Incompatible Pets

Check out this video. This is an example of incompatible pets. The people who made the video have cats and there is a turtle in the garden which stakes out his territory and chases them around the yard. He nips at them to make them leave his area and they run off with no real ability to fight back because he has a shell to protect himself. The poor cats just want to lounge around in the garden area and all their efforts to relax are thwarted by the turtle sentry of the back yard. It's kinda cute cause I've never seen such a bold turtle. He must have been a dog in a past life.

Pet Spa My Ass!!!

Watch this video. It is a "pet spa" allegedly. I don't know about you but when I go to the spa no one traps me in a washing machine without my knowledge and tries to drown me. I am exaggerating of course but this is not the machine to put your cat in. Please visit the website and protest this thing. What ever pet supplies store has this in it is in need of a little protest as well.

The video shows a cat being placed in the "spa" and then washed while it jumps and begs to be free from the whole event. The cat survives uninjured but I believe the machine is cruel. If you are too lazy to wash your animal then pay for a professional to do it please either that or deal with your animal the way he/she is stinky and all.

By the way cats don't need baths they wash themselves. Dogs are a different story all together-with them you have to pay attention to the breed or you'll cause all sorts of skin problems. For example Airdale Terriers should not be washed as often as some other dogs and so on.

Winnie's Diary

Tonight the petsitter ran in and out pretty quickly. She had to meet someone for dinner and said she was running late. I think she left because she's homeless and she needed to go dumpster diving. Yesterday I saw her stealing from the neighbor's trash. She took one of those copper fire pit things on a stand. Today I saw her doing it again because they had put out a larger one with a cover that matched. She said that people sell those things for 200 dollars sometimes and that she had a friend that needed it. I think she's using it for herself. I think she lives out of her car and wants to ue that thing to cook her dinner in the alley with the rest of the homeless people. She's like that guy who is in that stupid commercial where he lives out of his Sentra only she thinks she's high and mighty because hers is a special edition Altima. I offered her some of my food but she wouldn't take it. She said she doesn't like to mix her cod-tuna and shrimp together. The next time I offered her my food she said she doesn't eat random beef parts. I told her don't knock it till you've tried it. I happen to love beef lung soup. She tries to act like she's above Friskies but I could swear she lives in her car. If you've ever seen all the stuff she has in that thing you'd agree.

Cute Cat Video

Check this video out and see all the crazy stuff the kitties end up doing. The clip where the cat climbs the woman's leg while she washes dishes is what my cat Delila does. You can only imagine the pain of this experience which always comes when I least expect it.

Bea's Diary

This morning the petsitter was in a daze when she got up. She wandered into the kitchen in her tight fitting pink underware and scooped food for us and then she went back to the bed. 30 minutes later she came out in the same daze and gave Hugo his shot. She distracted him by telling him to look at something on the wall that wasn't there and then she poked him good with the needle. He jumped cause he wasn't ready and I was about to fall over laughing at the whole darn scene. Some big hairless human in pink underware bending over and scaring herself and Hugo half to death with a little bitty needle. I only wish I had a video camera so I could put the video on You Tube. Tonight she came into the house and fed us and then she sat down and ate with us. Of course she gets heated quesadilla's while we have to endure the cold wet food that she gives us every day. She is pretty nice though cause she feeds us a spoonful every 2 hours while she's awake. I overheard her telling Hugo it was better for his metabolism and his diabetes to do that. She's always nagging him to eat something to keep his blood sugar stable. I hear him talking back to her all the time about it. When she finished eating she ran off to the Starbucks to play on her computer since she can't get a connection at our house. She came back bitching and complaining about it because Starbucks uses T-Mobile HotSpot which costs her 20 dollars a month on her cell phone bill. She said that other coffee shops have better coffee and free wireless so she thinks that for all the "green" "hippy" "grass roots" image crap that Starbucks does that they are just another corporate rip off with watered down coffee and screw you out of your money internet connections. She told me to ask my mom when she comes back if it would be ok for me to give her the password to mom's wireless connection so she won't have to leave and she won't have to spend any money. Hopefully I remember to ask mom about it.
