Hugo's Diary
The pet sitter came in this evening like always, fed us and then left for a spot with an internet connection. She said it would be more fun for us if we could connect at our house to do the diary entries cause as it is now we end up writing our entries out by paw and she has to go to Starbucks where they rip her off for an internet connection and make her pay 20 dollars a month for T-Mobile Hotspot. She said that she's gonna cancel her hotspot connection soon because it's a rip off and she can find another coffee shop that connects for free to wireless. She's probably going to be home soon because the coffee shop closes at 7pm which makes for another hassle for her with the internet connection. She said sometimes she hangs out with all the homeless guys outside the coffee shop and they watch You Tube videos after the coffee shop closes. I think that's a little on the weird side myself but whatever floats your boat. I told her that I didn't think that was a very safe thing to do. She told me that drifters are a pretty loyal bunch and if you make friends with them they won't hurt you or anything. In fact, she said that once you're friends with them they will even help protect you if you need it. I guess ruffians have a moral code too. I suppose I never thought about it that way. She said what ever you do don't let them into your vehicle. Not because they are dangerous necessarily but because they smell of urine and that is not a pleasant scent for your car to have. It's fine in the open air because you don't notice it when the wind is airing out their butts but as soon as you are in a closed space you are bound to smell it. She said that her cats tried to pee on her once after hanging out with the ruffians because they didn't recognize her. After she explained to them who she was and what she'd been doing they let her go and then she just hid her clothes from them. Too much drama for me. I'm sure glad my mom doesn't take in strays. I saw that movie "Lady and the Tramp" and it sort of scared me to imagine hanging with those ruffians. To me that's almosta horror flick. Whew!!! Glad I'm at the safe and secure home my mom provides me with catnip for days.

Tiger Lily's Diary
Tonight when the pet sitter got here she had some thing next to her ear and she was talking really loud at it. It was kind of scary so I didn't come from down stairs until I heard her get quiet. She eventually got our food ready and I came down to eat. When I finished eating I came to sniff her at the chair and she grabbed me up and put the goo in my eyes. I jumped down after that and ran off into the dining room to do my own thing. She's always putting that goo in my eyes and I hate it. It feels good in the end and I know that but I still don't get too much into the whole eye goo thing. Right now Stargate is on and the pet sitter is watching it while I type. She said that when Stargate Atlantis is over that she has to go take care of other kitties so I have to stop typing for now.

Skye's Diary
This morning when the pet sitter arrived I threw her off the routine by staying upstairs and making her come to find me. She eventually came up and then she had to go all the way back downstairs in order to finish the routine. It was kinda funny. These humans have no idea how much control we fuzzies have over them. They think they control us because we are stuck in the house. Little do they know we choose to stay in the house and we could leave at any time it's as simple as the fact that we want to be served by our hairless servants. Tiger Lily has given in to the humans power and her punishment is that goo that they put in her eyes every day. I on the other hand have out smarted them. It may mean that some times I have to eat less food and have less freedom within the house but I do what I have to in order to show that I am the one in charge here.

Bea's Diary
All is going just fine on the fuzzy little home front. We recovered finally from the chaos that ensued when the pet sitter found the gifts our mom left her. I thought I'd have a heart attack from hearing her scream about it to her girlfriend on the phone. I got to go out on the porch last night and also today and it was kinda cool cause I feel like I'm being stealthy hiding between all the stuff my mom has stored out there. Hugo seems to enjoy it so much he never comes in unless the pet sitter goes to get him. He yowls at her but I don't think he's really mad at her. He's just jealous of her cats getting catnip cigars from mom for Christmas. I told him to be patient and that Christmas isn't here yet. We may be surprised to find that our mom left us gifts too. The pet sitter said that her step mom is getting her a digital camera and that she wished she had it early so that she could take pictures of all the kitties getting their gifts. I think she was talking about us. She said that we'll be famous after she gets her camera more than we already are because she's going to put our pictures up with our diary posts. That will be even more cool because our mom will get to look at us on the same day we're writing our journal and then in the end she'll have a whole bunch of pictures of us that she could ask our pet sitter for. The petsitter said that if she can figure out how to do it she's going to make a slide show of us for our mom. She may have to do it for all of her clients if one of them gets wind of her doing it for us.

Skye's Diary
Hey all. Nothing new to report here in fuzzland. Same same same same old routine. I have been thinking of ways to spice up life a little bit but with no luck. Send out some good vibes my way so that I can come up with some tricks to play on the pet sitter or something. That would really spice things up. Any way since all is the same and I am in the same routine lately I'll go for now. It's time for me to go upstairs and take my nap.

Tiger Lily's Diary
My stand in mom came this morning and fed me. She let me sniff her hands so that I could see where she's been. It's a new part of the routine that we've gotten into the last couple of stints she's had with us. She has a diabetic cat she hangs with a lot named Hugo and I smelled him. He smells tall, dark and handsome but I'm scared to meet him so I think I'll stay home with Skye instead. She fed me and then she rushed out of the house because she said she was late to get home and feed her own little kitties also. She was late getting to us because she slept in accidentally and now her poor little kitties are starving. She said she'd stay longer tonight.

Hugo's Diary
Today the pet sitter came. It was her first day for this particular stint. She came in for the evening meal around 630pm and then she was only here for about 10 minutes before she left. She came back around 9:30 in time to give me my insulin shot and then she was here for the night after that. She gave me my shot and then afterward when she went to throw the needle away she noticed that my mom had left her a stack of gifts. She opened the first one up and it was a 15 dollar gift card for itunes. She said at first she was wondering whether or not she could use it or not since she didn't know how it all worked. Before opening the next thing she called her girlfriend so she could give the play by play of her gift opening. She opened the second one and it was some chocolates a coffee mug and some catnip cigars for her cats. After that she went for the next box and she started freaking out. It was an ipod shuffle. She didn't know what to do with herself. She almost didn't open the rest of the gifts. Finally she contained herself and opened up the last two. One was a pair of house shoes which she needed because the other two pairs she has are falling apart due to age and Buddy chewing on them. The other was a down vest from Lands End. Finally she was done and then after talking with her girlfriend for a while she called my mom and I could hear her going on and on about the great gifts she had gotten. When she got off the phone with my mom she tole Bea and I about how great our mom is. (Like we didn't already know that!!) She said that every single year mom gets her just the right gifts. She said there has never been anything my mom gave her that she wanted to give to someone else in a regifting. She said that even if it was something she never knew she wanted that when she got it from my mom it was always perfect. She said she wished her own family took the time to pay attention in the few conversations they have with her enough that when they gave her something she felt like they were really paying attention. I feel sorry for her sometimes because she's stuck with us for Christmas but she told me that it's kinda boring with her family and it's colder where they are. She said that outside her mom she feels like Bea and I know her better and love her more anyway. She said every one else loves who they wished she'd become. I think she's become great if you want to know my opinion!! Who else can understand kitty speak as well as she can? No One That's Who!!!!! She's a keeper. I hope when mom moves she takes the pet sitter with her. If not she may have to fly her in for any of the times she's out of town. Well I'd better go I can feel another howling while I pee episode coming on.

Skye's Diary
All is the same as it always is when the pet sitter comes. Same routine, same food, same litter box, same same same same same. I don't know what I expect really it's just a boring life I lead. I roam around the house my human bought for me and I sleep where I feel like sleeping. I avoid the pet sitter when she comes and I just make sure to stay close to her in case she does something to Tiger Lily and then I can come to the rescue. Tiger Lily is happy. The pet sitter comes in and then before doing anything else she always lets Tiger Lily sniff her hands. Tiger Lily likes it because she gets to see where the pet sitter has been. She told me today that she smelled like a spay and neuter surgery and I told Tiger Lily that I remembered the pet sitter blogging about getting her cats fixed. I felt sorry for them but the pet sitter said it had to be done. Now they have to wear one of those cone things on their heads. The pet sitter says it's for their own good and all I can say is I'm glad it's not me.

It's Official There Are No New Kittens To Report At My House
Wednesday Samson and Delila got their precious parts snipped out. They have been de-jeweled. The family jewels removed and discarded who knows where. I know I am officially a mom now because of how sad I am. I know it had to be done but waa waa it wasn't easy. First the poor little rascals had to go without food from midnight the night before until they got home at 630 the day of the surgery. As if that isn't torture enought they had to endure the car ride there and they were the most well behaved and quiet little guys you've ever seen. When we got into the vet they stayed quiet the whole time despite all the funky smells wafting around that place. It smelled of dogs and cats and who knows what else, but they weren't afraid of any of it thanks to Rocky and Buddy coming to the house. Dogs don't scare them they think dogs are toys and they try to whack at their ears. Little dogs get freaked out by the kitties because they are so bold to come give the little ruffsters a sniff over. Any way when I picked them up Samson was as quiet as could be and Delila was too until she had to sit in the cold for too long while I opened the car door. She moaned in pain and discomfort letting me know to hurry up. The whole way in the car if we hit a bump or anything she just moaned and cried. I felt so bad for her. I was afraid they were going to hate me for the torture of depriving them with food and then taking them to get mutilated. When we got home I let them out and it seemed as if they were nervous that something was going to come out and grab them. When they calmed down Samson ran all around the house trying to eat any thing that was on the floor. I tended to poor little Delila and then realized that if I didn't feed them Samson was going to choke himself on something eventually. I fed the little buggars and then Delila started to lick her incision and bite at the stitches. It was driving her nuts because even squirting her didn't stop the nibbling and after a dousing of water I had to wrap her in a towel and protect her from herself. I didn't have an E-Collar so I was clueless on what to do. Especially since the stores were all closed. I ended up finding the last remaining paper plate in my house and I fashioned it into a cone and cut a hole in it for her little head to fit. I put it on her and taped it together with scotch tape. She figured out how to make my cheap little dollar store plate bend so she could reach her new chew toy and went at it again. I had to get a few old chopsticks that I had and break them in pieces to use as a splint for the paper plate. I taped the sticks all around the plate and then she looked even more hilarious with all this wood and paper and scotch tape around her head. She didn't have any periferal vision after that so she marched around the house lifting her little paws up like a German Soldier. I took a picture with my camera but I don't have a digital so we'll have to wait for the prints if you want to see the pics. I will post them as soon as they come up. I got her a real E-collar the next morning and she was very patient while waiting for the cutting to complete. Apparently she learned from her experience the day before that you shouldn't wiggle too much when a sharp object is near you. In the mean time Samson is running around like a lunatic with all sorts of energy. I was told he'd be more calm but that was a lie cause he is psycho now. Running and climbing and snuggling and wrestling. I know when I have human children I'll never have them fixed or I'll go nuts with all the energy they'll have. LOL

Potential Kittens Available
Hello All. Announcement is that I have been a bad cat mom. I have two stray kitties that I have had for a couple of months now. They are supposedly less than 6 months old which supposedly means that they can't mate successfully but they are starting to mock the actions of "doing the do". So I have put a call in to the local spay and neuter clinic but I will not be getting an appointment for a while so just in case there are kitties on the way keep in mind all of the people that you know who have been thinking of getting a cat. Anyway wish me luck, give me prayers, keep me in your thoughts or whatever it is you do for that kind of stuff so that I can get a quick appointment that costs little tiny amounts of money.

The Importance Of Organic Pet Food
The fab 5 major pet food manufacturers would have you believe that cute little packaged servings of food served with love from you but the increase in pet health issues will tell you different. I recommend that all of you read the book "The Food Pets Die For" by Ann N. Martin. This book has great information on the most common pet foods and manufacturers. Actually it would be a great Christmas gift for your favorite petsitter since she has to go to the library to get it or read excerpts on line.

Organic Pet Food Gets Paws Up
Check out this USA Today article about the rise of organic pet food. Here are some excerpts from the article to whet your appetite. "Even Fido and Mittens are going organic...Organic pet food sales, up 63% last year, are growing at nearly 3 times the rate of human organic food sales, says the Organic Trade Association...Among all organic products - foods untouched by preservatives, pesticides, hormones and antibiotics - only sales of organic meats are growing faster...

Information About Organic Pet Foods
Hello All. I wanted to let you know that in the next few days and weeks I will be collecting information on organic pet foods for you. I will be purchasing and receiving samples of each of the pet foods that I am planning to research and I will be rating them over time for you. I will also be listing ingredients for you in case you have something you don't want your cat or dog to eat. In the end I hope this will enable you to make better choices about the food your animals will be eating. I come from farm country and I have found there to be a vast difference between country animals and city animals. In the country animals are a way of life and making a living for the people who own them and the job of the vet is to help the farmer make money and keep entire herds of animals alive and healthy. In the city animals are a way of life and making a living for the vet and the job of the vet is to keep your pet alive long enough to milk you of all the money you can give them because of the ailments that they have from the nutrient deficiencies caused by the psuedo food and over medication of the poor little guys. You may ask whether or not my opinion is based on fact or simple bias. Take it from someone who has grown up from birth caring for and medicating a variety of animals small and large this is the way of the pet world. Check the cost of medical care in cities vs. rural areas and you will see that the vets in the city make a great living while vets in the rural areas live right near the same lifestyle of the farmer. This is why I will be talking the next few entries about organic foods for your pet. Organic foods have not been processed to remove the good stuff along with the bad. I figure if you're gonna spend money at the vet then you could reduce the vet bill and increase the food bill the same amount. Take the petsitter challenge and we'll see if it works.

Cosmo's Diary
Today the petsitter got here with plenty of time to spare before Oprah started. What a weird show it is today. They are sizing all the women in the audience with bras. I don't know what to think about it with all the nakedness. I think I'll ask the petsitter to change the channel. I know she may call me a prude or make fun of my shyness but you have to do what you have to do. All is good here at the house. The litter is scooped, the water is refreshed, the dry food replenished and the wet food gone because we ate it as soon as it hit the bowl. I am looking forward to my mom coming home because I miss her. She lays in the bed with us and the petsitter doesn't do that. She's snuggly and all but she sits in the chair or at the counter in the kitchen. Mom seems to go more places in the house while the petsitter just mostly stays in one room. It makes it weird if we want to snuggle in the other room. Any way I'll go for now.

Archie's Diary
All is well in the house today. A bit warmer than it has been because the temperature outside has finally gotten warmer the last couple of days. It was 17 degrees out the other day and it went up from there to 19 to 30 to 33 to 50 and so on until today where it is about 64 outside. That helps keep it warm inside. Even though it never gets below about 65 in the house sometimes it seems colder than that. Cosmo and I ate and then Coz ran off to the bedroom but I had to come back and eat some more. Things are just fine and I'm starting to get excited cause I know my mom will be getting home on Friday or Saturday. The petsitter told me to be sure and remind mom to call when she arrives so that the petsitter doesn't pop over and wake her up from her jet lag nap. She also said that she may be getting a new digital camera and so we may be famous on the internet because we'll be able to put our picture with our diary entries. This way when we go to the vet all the other people there will know to give us the VIP treatment since we're famous.

Horrific Puppy Torture Case Being Heard In Atlanta Courts
There is a case in the court system currently where two teenage boys have been accused of torturing a small puppy by (among other things) cooking it live in a gas oven. Following are some snips from the article about the case. "Jurors recoiled in horror and wiped their eyes Thursday as prosecutors produced a series of grisly photos of a tiny puppy tortured and then killed in a gas oven...The blood stained oven showed showed scratch marks on the door and walls, indicating that the young dog - it's mouth and feet duct taped - struggled before it died...Beige paint also covered the puppy and the inside of the oven, a final act of cruelty before the animal was tossed into the stove..." The puppy was only 3 months old. (as if age makes a difference in the effect of paint, tape, cooking while live). This is a horrific case and I'm sooooo glad I didn't get called to be on the jury for this one. If I had I'm sure that they would have releived me of my duties pretty quickly because #1 I am a petsitter; #2 I think who ever is guilty should receive the same punishment as they dished out and #3 I would have jumped from the jury box and choked the shit out of the little punk bastards who were found guilty. All good reasons for the defense to decide against me as a juror.
